To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. 43588 R1/M8.10.26. RE. PURCHASE OF A CAR. X.3531 X.3588 X8470 X.3998 It has occurred to me that it may be preferable to have one of the Sizaire cars rather than a Lorraine-Dietrich, because of the novel control of the front axle. Regarding our own practice I have suggested that we increase the lean of the front pivots immediately if at all possible, as we can I feel nearly certain prevent low or high speed wobbles from building up by hydraulic dampers on axle and steering. As regards our future policy it is quite possible that we may use the suggestion I made some time ago, of using the shock absorber as an upper radius rod. We are taking out a patent for this combination, as improved by us, comprising the shackling at the rear and the swivelling of the link. I believe Mr. Robotham also suggested the swivelling of the vertical link and his name will be included in the patent. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
