K 5840. HOTEL de FRANCE, Chateauroux, FRANCE. -/ /31. To Es. From J.H.H. No. 18.S.IV. I should very much like your opinion on the advisability of continuing running this car. Personally, I think the car ought to return to Derby to be made more reliable. At the completion of the 25,000 miles we shall have very little result that can go into production. We are having all the petty complaints that our customers already complain of - i.e. (1) Failure of the exhaust system (2) Failure of the telegauge. (3) Failure of the bijur supply to the front axle. (4) Failure of the bijur tank itself. (5) Failure of the Lucas Windscreen Wiper. (6) Failure of the bijur supply pipes fitted on the rear springs. (7) Clutch stiffening. (8) Gearbox groaning, at present only slight. (9) Bonnet casing is falling to pieces through being made of too thin material. (10) Rear silencer lozenge falling off. (11) Front apron bolts will not remain tight. (12) Rear apron bolts will not remain tight. (13) Failure of bijur supply to the rear axle via the stumps hitting same. (14) Wrongly designed connecting links of rear dampers. (15) Very bad rattle from change speed lever during the torque reaction period and at 60 mph. (16) Very poor standard rear axle. J.H.Hancock.
