would be noticed over that portion of the radiator block covered by the blind in its different positions. Such a scheme could not I think be worked by thermostat control owing to the increased friction.

A further alternative which would be better than nothing, but would be too narrow in its application and not suitable for America, but perhaps be sufficiently satisfactory for England, would be to use a short circuiting valve to the radiator. This could be applied comparatively easily but care would have to be exercised with such a device even when running in England with a temperature well below freezing, and I do not recommend it.
