Contd. -2- EFCl/Tll.8.21. suitable adjustment of the back air gap (near pivot) and spring tension, without introducing this fault, and we have ourselves adjusted two of these six cutouts with satisfaction, one of which has now been placed on chassis 5 EX and the other of which is available for some other purpose. Messrs. Bleriot themselves stated that they feared that in adjusting these to our specification, we should find this fault of vibration at the cutting in point, and for that reason one of the cutouts sent has been specially wound with more series turns so that the reverse series current is smaller, even though the operating and deoperating voltages on the shunt coil on open circuit are not so near together as to allow vibration at the cutting in point. Although we have not yet fully investigated this particular instrument, we think it is an improvement. It will be seen that to get these cutouts finally consistent in operation to our specification, it necessitates some further correspondence with the Bleriot Company. In view of the fact that there seems some possibility of this instrument being at some time standardised, with the R.R. double wiring system, we shall, unless instructed otherwise, correspond with the Bleriot Company with a view to getting these instruments to our fine satisfaction.
