Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Major Searight.

We thank you for your letter of the 25th.. ult. We regret that we have not answered this before but the works have been closed for summer holidays.

We have examined the model that you sent us as a means of preventing the weight of the armoured hose from fracturing the pipe lines. We think the idea is perfectly sound and will not hamper our fitting the instrument to the dash-board. We shall be interested to see the final production fitting.

Unfortunately, the gauge which you sent out to France after our conversation at the Aero Show did not reach the car as this had by then gone on tour. It has now returned to the works and we find that the gauge has definately been leaking.

So far we have tested the head cold with air pressure and we cannot make it leak. By the quantity of fluid about when we dismantled the gauge, it has obviously been leaking from the bottom of the glass and we are trying to reproduce this before we return it to you.

You will note that the rubber seatings for the glass tube on this gauge are again perished rather badly and we would recommend that you improve the quality of rubber so that it will stand heat better.

It also appears that we have got to do some-thing to the head to prevent it leaking under the conditions in which we use it.

We shall of course be in a better position to know what troubles are going to count most when we have this
