Dear Pomeroy,

Many thanks for your letter re Wellworthy piston rings.

You will be relieved to hear that we are not contemplating using the Simplex on the 12-cylinder. Actually the wet liner we use on this unit gives us a more perfectly circular bore than anything we have previously had.

The interest I have in the Simplex ring is -

(1) To get a more effective oil control in running the S.A.E.10 oil in the Summer.

(2) To try on service jobs where the customer comes in after about 40,000 miles with .005" wear of the bores, and when his engine has been decarbonised the oil consumption goes up.
