January, 12th. 1915. Re Easy Starting (Spraying). We send herewith a sketch of the modification of our priming arrangement, which is the other one to be tested besides Mr. Hives' arrangement, to see which is the more convenient to fit to the cars. The arrangement does not go to the float feed but is connected direct to the induction pipe. It also avoids the back pressure valve, and I think if it can be made to work it will be preferable for these two reasons. It should also have the advantage of putting in the air and the petrol together, at a very much higher velocity and therefore better atomised, than with the very good arrangements suggested by Mr. Hives. Will you kindly instruct the necessary parts for this experiment as quickly as possible. Perhaps some better sketch of this can be blueprinted for sending to the aero department of the W.O.
