X740 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Mr. Walker. BY2/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 2. 6. 24. C.E.D. recently wrote, in connection with lubrication, a memo BY8/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 6. 5. 24. reading as follows:- "For the chassis engine, in future, we recommend "th`t we change the oil in the crankcase as "follows:- " "After First 500 miles. " "After Second 500 Miles. " "Beyond this period, the oil should be emptied "out of the crankcase and renewed for every "2000 miles completed". I sent a copy of this to Sales, who have now replied in B04/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 28. 5. 24. as below:- "BY8/H.6.5.24. was considered at the Sales "Conference to-day, and in view of the recommendation "in the Instruction Book, page 25, that the oil "should be changed every 5000 miles, or half yearly, "we shall be glad if you will consider whether it "would not be sufficient for us now to insert a "recommendation that the oil should be changed "after the first 500 miles, in order to clear out "any original impurities, and after that, it might "be changed every 2,000 miles. " "The Conference throught that as customers had so "far been recommended to change once in 5,000 miles, "they might consider it a very drastic change if we "now recommended them to change three times in the "first 5,000 miles." Am I to accept this correction or do we propose to question it? BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
