x 264a W/LH.{Mr Haworth} - GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KW.14.3.36. Thank you for your Daily Reports and note. We note your remarks re radiator shutters and loss of water. We put the spring in the radiator shutters because it gave us better carburation, and most of the 20/25's run far lower than the Phantom or Bentley. We should therefore like you to observe whether the carburation is affected. With regard to the loss of water we can only conclude, since now the radiator and bottom water pump have been changed, that the new turbulent head has some bearing on the matter. We shall have to carry out some investigations at this end. Presumably if the sealing cap on the radiator was a good fit you would not lose water, and you might check up what spring you would require if there was a good seal here, to overcome the trouble. Fisher has promised to come down on Monday or Tuesday on the petrol consumption. The oil consumption is a bit of a mystery. We are checking up on 21-G-IV. We should like to know how the oil pressures on the 20/25 compare with those on the Bentley, and whether you think they can be reduced. We do not want Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} to get into the habit of ringing you up and asking questions before you have got the answers, and have therefore written to him as per the enclosed. Are the rest of the arrangements made for you at Lillie Hall sufficiently satisfactory to justify us asking for a pit to be put down in the building where you are now working ? It would be helpful to us if, when you are writing about both cars, you would enclose two copies of your memos. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
