BENTLEY COACHWORK.
EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/HP25.4.34

We have very carefully considered the contents of your memo. and note that you consider the new batches of bodies should have:-

(1) Sheet metal wheel arches.

(2) Sheet metal floor.

(3) Sheet metal wells for the feet.

in addition to the Alpex centre and screen pillars.

We are instructing Park Wards accordingly.

We shall, of course, have to pay the £1.10. 0. for the steel wheel arches.
Park Wards already supply the metal wells for the feet.

Will you please go into the matter and let me know the next time you are in London what is proposed in regard to the sheet metal floor; that is to say, whether it will be supplied by the Works or by the Coachbuilders.

This leaves one point to be considered. When Mr.Ward was at Derby he examined the experimental Bentleys and found that all of them have additional front body brackets to the frame. I enclose copy of letter Mr.Ward has written upon this matter and he looks upon this as being a most important matter in overcoming rattles to the front doors; they have themselves, in fact, fitted these front brackets in the case of complaints and have found them very successful.

When we were discussing the matter with you and Mr.Ward the other day, you expressed the opinion that the front of the body should be left without the brackets. Please, therefore, give Mr.Ward's suggestion careful consideration and let us have your suggestions the next time you are in London. Meantime there is no immediate hurry about this as we have been able now to instruct Park Wards to get on with the main part of the work.
