The steering of B.III is so far entirely free from joggles with the result that we do not need any additional sponge in the linkage. We therefore wish to fit to the 10,000 mile test car at the rear end of the side steering tube a ball joint similar to the one at the front end as this is simpler and cheaper. It is not necessary for the tube to be screwed to the socket at the rear end and the bijur metering plug on the pendulum lever can be omitted. On the last 17,000 miles test on 32-EX cross steering tubes in S/D 2031A quality were run satisfactorily and subsequently standardised. We therefore wish to fit tubes of similar material to B.III and B.50. In addition, we wish to omit the jumping up of the tube and to carry the 0.691 bore straight through the screwed end. Will you please make details of cross and side steering tubes incorporating the above details and lengths to suit the improved geometry. RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J.
