Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gryl/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 1166 29th June, 1937. Messrs. Donald Sessions & Co.,Ltd., 906, Harrow Road, Willesden, N.W.10. Dear Sirs, With regard to our discussion the other day about making the jacks on the P.III interchangeable with the proposed system on the 25 H.P., we have come up against one difficulty, i.e., it is impossible to fit the P.III jack as it stand on the 25 H.P., because it is essential on the latter that the lower thread shall be at the bottom of the jack, and not half way up. It is obviously possible to modify the P.III front jack bracket to take a jack with the thread at the bottom; this will add a certain amount of weight and cost. Could you, therefore, give us an idea what saving would be effected on your side if we make the front jack interchangeable, or, whether you think this is not worth while ? The rear jacks, in any case, will be to exactly the same drawing on both cars. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
