COPY W/S. To Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Re. Tools under the bonnet on 40/50, 20/25 and Bentley. We heartily agree with the sentiments you have expressed in your memo. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}20/KW.30.1.34 regarding the objection to opening up the bonnet by the roadside and the desirability of storing the necessary tools in some part of the body work. We had put forward a scheme for having a tool locker in the scuttle, since the overlap of the bonnet has become sufficiently pronounced to make it possible to use a scuttle deep enough for this purpose, but if there is some prospect of avoiding this solution we would rather do so on the new chassis models we have in progress. In the case of close coupled coachwork, we assume the problem of finding tool space is not so acute as where standard full length saloons and such like bodies are concerned, that is, cars normally fitted with a luggage carrier. Will Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} say if it would be possible in the latter case to have a small extension of the rear apron covering tool space behind the petrol tank which might still be accessible with the luggage carrier in use ?
