WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}103. MAGNETO H.T. WIRE ON 20 HP. CHASSIS. It has been observed that the H.T. wire from the Watford ROL magneto becomes saturated and deteriorated by oil at the point of fixing on the battery ignition distributor base. Apparently this is caused by a leakage from the water pump coupling bearing, the oil being flung up on to the wire. According to design this leakage should not occur, but nevertheless it does both on our own expl. chassis and others. A 20 HP. chassis (new) in the dynamometer house shewed this to be happening. As apparently it seems difficult to prevent this leakage occurring we suggest that this wire should be protected with oil proof covering at the place where it is exposed. EFC/H.E.West. | ||
