Dear Sirs,.

GOSHAWK 11.
LEATHER GAITER ON CROSS STEERING.

Referring to the sample end with leather stocking fitted up with a strap, recently submitted, and your letter of the 28th, reference WEC/FMd, in connection with same, I have put the sample before the Experimental Dept. who have asked me to return the stocking and make the following points clear;-

(1) It is quite impossible for us to have the buckle fitted in its present position, as it will prevent us putting the grease gun on to the greaser unless we undo the leather stocking, a point which of course, we distinctly wish to avoid.

(2) The steering lever is limited in its movement by the leather stocking.

(3) We consider that the laced scheme is distinctly better than the one submitted, and unless you can find some way of improving the cover fitted with a strap, we certainly think that you will have to turn your attention to lacing, but as we agree it is very much easier to remove the stocking which is held in position by a strap rather than by lacing, we would like you to make a further attempt at this particular point.

contd.
