47060 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}3/KW. 19th June, 1934. Major G.E.A. Hallett, General Motors Corporation, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Dear Major Hallett, I am very pleased indeed to be able to send you our scheme of ball valve which we are at present using in the silent tappet. I think that you mentioned keeping the lift down to the absolute minimum when I was talking to you in Detroit. This is a feature which we have always watched and it certainly is of major importance. Of course our experience with the whole Cadillac type of tappet adjustment has been extremely limited and confined to running on experimental cars. We cannot claim to have any confirmation of our good results in customers' hands. Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
