FAN BLADES - P.III & WRAITH.

We have investigated the cracking of P.III Fan Blades reported in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.10/MH.{M. Huckerby}20.9.38, and BY.13/G.3.10.38, and find that standardisation of Duralumin Blades with altered shape represents a cost increase of 1/3d per chassis and a tool cost of £4. 15. 0d. and can be introduced at 106 in 'D' by scrapping existing stock of P.III blades (E.85301 and E.89255) value £24. 5. 10d.

It is not proposed to introduce Duralumin blades on the Wraith, but we understand that the shape has been altered involving a further tool cost of £4. 15. 0d. with no alteration to blade cost. It has been confirmed that the new blade can be conveniently introduced at 1st in 'C' Series when existing stock of blades will be absorbed.
