48350 To Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG26.8.25. LONDON TRIALS CARS. 48350 Referring to BJ7/H25.8.25 returned to you. The steering on the London Trials Car is identical in design to that fitted to Lord Montagu's car. The trials cars have now been run a considerable distance and so far we have had no complaints with them as regards vibration of the steering column. We think that by trying the cars in London, BJ. will be in the best position to judge whether similar complaints are likely to be received from other customers. There is no alteration in the design contemplated which will affect the vibration of the steering column. There are modifications contemplated to the steering which should reduce the rotational shocks on the steering wheel. It may be this fault which Lord Montagu is troubled with. If it is proved, which we think it will be, that there is no objectionable vibration of the column on the Trials cars, at the first opportunity Lord Montagu's car should be tested to find out the actual fault which is complained of.
