Examination of 5-B-IV.

In addition to stripping the engine from this car, we should like to take the opportunity of examining also the gearbox and back axle, which have been running on Wakefield's latest extreme pressure lubricant. Will you therefore please strip these parts and let us know in time so that the Wakefield people can see them before anything is cleaned.

We should also like a report on the behaviour of the servo, in particular as to (1) the floating cams, (2) Dural back plate, (3) lightened drive shaft and its effect, if any, on the servo gears (4) the lightened damper, (5) whether any of the .010" thick crinkly plates have broken.

Can you also let us know the amount of wear of the linings so that we can judge to what extent the crinkly plates will have to work after a long mileage.
