S/W Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C3/C10.5.28 Re 17-EX. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG4.5.28 and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG5.5.28 We note you are going to hand over all these three Sports chassis to us for sale. As regards 17-EX, we note the departures from standard, apart from the cast dash and accordingly the special pedals, steering, etc. the chassis will be practically standard when we commence getting through from the Works chassis with the turbulent head, towards the end of June or early July. We do not want to send this chassis with all these future modifications on it to Jarvis at least until we are bringing through the turbulent head and certain other features, as Jarvis's class of clientele we think would very quickly nose out these improvements. Will you please, therefore, arrange to stow this chassis away somewhere for a couple of months and we will take it over as soon as turbulent heads are coming through as standard. So far as the cast dash is concerned, we do not think this will matter very much as we can offer these two cars for sale as being rather specially built. The blue car we are, of course, keeping covered up at Lillie Hall, also waiting for a similar period, but we understand you will want this back to do a few things to later on, before we actually offer it for sale. As regards 15-EX, since this is so badly smashed up that it will have to be re-built, we presume there is no reason why you should not make it into a long type chassis. Of course the engine and gearbox and other parts that you will be able to use have already done somewhere about 10,000 miles, so that we should not be able to offer it as a new chassis, but we can, of course, sell it as a secondhand experimental chassis which has done 10,000 miles and been re-built. We think, therefore, the best thing would be to build it into the type of chassis which is most saleable. Is there any reason why it should not be madeinto a long chassis? If not, we suggest you do this, using the present steering column, which is presumably undamaged, and all the other parts you can, and we will advise you later as to what springing to fit. Please let me know if this is all clear. C. | ||
