BENTLEY REAR AXLE PINION.

Herewith is G.CD.58 shewing a modification to the pinion bearing housing to enable a preload to be applied to the thrust bearing without loading the studs holding the pinion assembly to the axle casing.

We should like it to be ascertained that the locking washer tabs can be turned over the pinion nut on the corners without interfering with the coupling flange, which is existing.

The coupling flange has been pushed forward, and we believe the propeller shaft sliding joint will absorb this without alteration. This should be investigated.

This modification is required for test quickly.
