Dear Mr. Minchin,

I am very interested to know whether you have heard any further news regarding the American "prestolite" battery, which the Packard Motor Car Co. have now standardised, and which they claim does not require much attention in regard to topping up etc.

I have before me also, a small leaflet describing the Reading Aero Battery, manufactured by Reading Battery Inc. Pennsylvania U.S.A.

This battery from the description of the Pamphlet, is remarkable, in that it is unspillable but it cannot leak even if punctured witha bullet.

It was only announced to the Industry in January of this year.

As an indication of the performance which this battery will give, the battery weighed 48 1/2 lbs. and gave a performance of 200 amps. for 5 mins. and 56 amp. hours on the 5 hour rate.

It seems to me that the battery is superior in many respects to the aero battery which you are now supplying and I think it might be worth while for you to go into the matter still further to ascertain if the advantages claimed can be really substantiated.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS ROYCE LTD.
