contd :- -2- but bad management of rear road spring stiffness and highly pumped tyres will ruin all, and spoil everything that can be done. Body noises of all kinds are reduced and the life of bodies lengthened by suitable road springs and dampers, and especially by tyres. Semi-balloons at low pressure have enormous effect on the silence due to the roughness of the roads. Here on the French roads the engine and chassis vibrations, and noises outside those from the road surfaces, are practically nothing, and the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I is definitely superior to the Silver Ghost, and on the good level roads we often get well over 70 m.p.h., and the acceleration is also definitely better. With another tooth in the back axle pinion we could easily pass 80 m.p.h. with no opposing wind. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
