OIL LEVEL INDICATOR - BENTLEY & WRAITH

The spindle, EB.1195, passing through the crankcase wall on the above is of minute proportions, and does not present a sufficiently large area of face to support the lever, E.50264, during rivetting, furthermore it is necessary to finally rivet the opposite end in position on the lower half.

The spindle bushes, E.51444, are also of small proportions and involve hand taper reaming of the crankcase, the total result of the above being to render fitting a difficult and uncertain procedure occupying about 30 minutes actual time.

We attach hereto a sketch showing a modified scheme which would overcome the present troubles and provide a more straight forward assembly, the slightly increased cost of the details being more than off set by the reduction of assembly time. The final saving is about 6d per chassis, but the suggestion is put forward more with the object of providing a satisfactory assembly rather than for the actual cost of reduction.
