Re: Bentley III & Bentley 50.
Sheet Metal Dash on Body.

We would like to put on record the reasons why we have designed the sheet metal dash on the body for B.III and B.50, stating its advantages and its saving in weight and cost.

The following savings in weight and cost have been effected over and above the orthodox cast dash with dash brackets and chassis floorboards as fitted to 1.B.3.

(1) The saving in the cost of the sheet metal pressing over the aluminium casting, which is a matter of several pounds.

(2) The deletion of two dash brackets also.

(3) Two scuttle attachments to the frame, consisting of steel brackets, rubbers and washers.

(4) Four scuttle isolation bolts, washers, and nuts, with rubbers.

(5) Complete set of bonnet rests, increased along the dash, together with rest material.

(6) The casting of the pedal gap plate is replaced by a piece of flat metal.

(7) The floorboards supplied with the chassis reduced to a simple sheet metal centre pressing.

(8) The rear support for the chassis floorboards has been deleted.

(9) The steering support on the dash is replaced by a simpler one from the scuttle.

(10) The cost of fitting the bonnet to the chassis will be reduced, as the bonnet will be fitted finally by the coachbuilder directly to the body.
