V5770 To DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} S E C R E T. X5770 (crossed out) X5830 20 HP. CAR FOR MR. ROYCE. We were not counting on the Barker Cabriolet 20 HP. being ready by the end of July. We had in mind an open 20 HP. for R.{Sir Henry Royce} We shall be sending the subframe for the 20 HP. car to Barkers either today or tomorrow. We should be greatly obliged if you will do all you can to push the job forward. We do not know what whether Derby has received all particulars, but at present the Expl: Dept: are awaiting for particulars of the dash which we understand is 1" wider, bonnet and steering. I expect there will be some difficulty raised by the Administration as regards sending a 20 HP. car to the Coachbuilders to have this body fitted. What we suggest we do temporarily would be to fit an old type front axle without brakes and a 3-speed box with central change - we should have ensure ourselves by measurements that the right-hand 4-speed change box would fit.
