From Exp. Dept. Copies for: Mr Johnson. Mr Royce. Mr Nadin. Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/Hyl/L10713. July 10th. 1913. Report on Michelin 2 ton Lifting Jack 'Ferdoni'. - X.391 This Jack has been tried under all conditions under back and front axles, on standard and Colonial chassis with both 895 and 935 wheels. It is quite suitable except for the following two reasons. The Jack cannot be put under the front axle with 895 wheels and tyre deflated. It can however be put under the spring and the car satisfactorily jacked up this way. Also if back wheel is jacked up fitted with 935 tyre, and the tyre deflated, after jacking up, the flat tyre cannot be lowered to the ground. This is an operation however that I do not think anyone would ever wish to do, certainly not on the road. This jack is I consider a better tool for use with a heavy car like ours than the lighter type Michelin Jack i.e. the one ton model "Ferda". It is taller and bigger diameter and is a much more robust job. | ||
