ACCELERATION

The question sometimes arises as to the relative performance of various R-R models - also the effect of axle ratio and compression ratio on acceleration.

The attached curves shew increase in velocity, not acceleration, as for practical purposes the speedometer, which reads velocity, is the instrument which will be used for the tests. Also curves of other makes of cars on these lines are frequently given in the popular motor papers. However we do not think the majority of these are of the slightest use as they are not accurate.

The Bentley curve is only an approximation, and should therefore be used with discretion.

The figures for high compression cars given in these curves are only put in for purposes of comparison. There is no intention of producing high compression models either 20 HP. or 40/50HP.
