RECEIVED 29 JAN 1931 x2926. EWP{Mr Punt}/2I/FAW 27.I.3I To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, Derby (attention of GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}) From EWP{Mr Punt}, Paris With reference to the two Goodyear tyres & tubes size 7.00 x 19, that you left with us on your way from Chateauroux to England, kindly note that as these tyres are not standard, we are afraid that there is little chance of our selling them to a customer. We therefore approached the people from whom we bought these tyres on your behalf, with a view that they should take them back. But they point out that having been bought last May, it is rather too long a time for them to make us anything like a good offer; and that the best they can do is to offer us 880 francs for the two. (At the time of buying them we paid 1334fr 20 net). Kindly let us know whether we are to accept this figure on your behalf; or would you care for us to hang on to them on the chance that we might sell them to a client. We should however in this case like to point out that if we are not successful in finding a customer, the Goodyear people will naturally reduce the amount of their offer as time goes on.
