469H 346 To HRO. from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c.c. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} SpectreCodename for Phantom III - Front Suspension. Herewith is a print of N. Sch.4237 shewing a temporary modification to the steering layout to provide approximately correct steering geometry when trying the equal triangles on an existing car, as shewn on N. Sch.4223. The drawing is quite unfinished and is intended as a guide for making up pieces to try the experiment. We have used the existing central lever and provided two extra levers giving the same lock and steering leverage as now. This enables the existing column and side steering tube to be used. In a final scheme, if the experiment is successful, one of the extra levers will be made to carry the side steering lever, so eliminating one lever, but this requires re-arranging the side steering tube, at least.
