Contd. -6- Ckl/T10.3.20. (8) FIRST DISCHARGE OF NEW BATTERY. As to whether a discharge and recharge should be carried out on a new battery before putting into service, this is considered advisable in some cases and unnecessary inothers. If the battery is immediately to go into such service in which it will be more or less completely discharged and recharged immediately, it is considered unnecessary. If, however, the battery is to go into such service in which it may be nearly always in a charged condition, it is considered an advantage to first fully discharge and recharge the battery before putting into service, in order to increase the capacity of the plates. This would therefore appear to be the method to follow in the case of chassis batteries, in order that their complete capacity shall be available when first required. Ck.{Mr Clark} | ||
