To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from CY. COPY. OY3-E-10625. RE. BIJUR CHASSIS LUBRICATION. You will have received already the reprints of Bijur's paper on his chassis lubrication system and possibly the demonstration set. We want to draw your attention to this in all seriousness. TEST. We have run a Bijur system already some 4000 miles on 102-GX, the left-hand drive experimental car, and are so completely in favour of it that we have passed a sheet to put it on as soon as possible and shall be sending over our proposal sheet as soon as we have completed the 10,000 miles. LUBRICATION POINTS. We have not tried to feed too many points. The brake actuating shafts on the rear axle only require oiling about every 6 months so we have left them alone. The rear spring rollers we have got rid of by using the serrated rocker. Engine coupling, torque tube and sphere are taken care of by our oil cup under the bonnet. This leaves for the centralized system, the following points :- Front spring shackles---------------- 6 points. Radiator suspension ----------------- 2 " Fan --------------------------------- 1 " Water pump ------------------------- 2 " Battery ignition distributor gears - 1 " Front engine suspension ------------ 6 " Steering pivots -------------------- 2 " Front shock absorber conn.rods. ---- 2 " Cross and side steering tube balls - 4 " Starting motor epic. gear (Epicyclic 1 " on gearbox is now lubricated from box.) Footbrake adjustment --------------- 1 " Equaliser shaft -------------------- 4 " Rear spring shackles --------------- 4 " Rear spring pivots ----------------- 2 " Total ---------------------------- 38 points. contd :- | ||
