SELF ADJUSTING TAPPETS.
LeC. 2808.

A propos of our telephone conversation, and with further reference to self adjusting tappets, we have been examining LeC. 2808., and it appears clear that at high speed the reserve oil will not stay inside the tappet, neither is this oil very likely to get replenished.

This would account for the tappet gear becoming noisy if run fast!

Some modification will be necessary to the design which we will put up to R.{Sir Henry Royce} on his return from London.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
