As discussed with you we are recalling the standardisation sheet issued for the Bentley radiator with dummy radiator shutters and thermostat scheme to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}415 in view of the failures we have had with this thermostat scheme, due to excessive water pressures in the cylinder block. We are issuing instead a sheet for the dummy shutters with a revised thermostat scheme i.e. taking a ½" bypass pipe direct from thermostat casing to water pump and leaving the hot spot feed standard as at present. This means that the cylinder head, induction pipes, air silencer, hot spot feed connections all remain as at present standard and can therefore be released for "M" series production, the parts which are still held up being radiator shutters, radiator inlet pipe and connections cylinder head water outlet, water pump cover, and bypass pipe.
