Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of yours of the 18th instant, reference as above, and have duly noted the contents.

As regards the manufacture of two more of these cams with .05 - .06 case, in view of the fact that they are of special design involving special setting up on a number of operations, we are afraid that putting them through our Works is not going to be an easy proposition, more particularly in view of the work we have going through our shops. Further, should we be able to arrange to make these, we would point out that a minimum of six cams would have to be put through to cover possible slip ups in the various set ups.

We are, however, prepared to do our best to make these Cams for you as soon as we can and, therefore, perhaps you would let us have your further instructions. Looking into the position in our Works at present there appears to be a prospect of putting these through in from 6 to 8 weeks.

The Writer would like to state that, in his opinion, particularly in regard to the class of car involved, the wiser policy would be to adopt a larger gear, in line with our '561' model, a drawing of which we have already sent you. Would it not be possible to adopt this larger gear in all cases where the smaller gear is being employed, which would cut out having two types of gear in production ?. If this could be done then the only extra would be the servicing of the smaller gears already made, and this might be found to be best done by
