Report detailing a car accident caused by a skid on an icy road near Derby.

I was proceeding with chassis 1BIV, registration RC{R. Childs} 1426 along the London Road in the direction of Shardlow at 10.30 a.m. to-day following a lorry, speed about 20 m.p.h. when immediately after rounding the slight bend five miles from Derby. the car developed a front wheel skid on the icy surface of the road which carried the car across the road to the off side grass verge where it came to a stop.
A 10HP Standard car RC{R. Childs}3966 driven by Mr L. Powell, 31, Rowditch Avenue, Derby was proceeding towards Derby & he was unable to avoid a collision. He stated that he was afraid to apply his brakes too hard for fear of skidding & although he turned his steering to his offside the two near side front
