Martindale Do you agree with this statement? Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Front Roll Rod with Rubber Connecting link Phantom III. The Expl. Dept. on erecting N.Sch.4763 showing a front roll rod with rubber ended connecting links, have found a foul between the top of the link and the water excluder of the front brakes on full rebound. This is with the standard triangle lever. On N.Sch.4970 herewith we show a roll rod lever shortened by .500" which we believe will overcome the difficulty, and we suggest that for 32-EX, the car on which this roll rod is fitted, it will be possible for the Expl. Dept. to bend an existing lever so as to bring the ball end in the required position. We would point out, however, that this foul does not appear to be of great importance and that the water excluder need not have been cut away to the extent it has been on the car in question, 32-EX, because it occurs only on the outer wheel on maximum lock and full rebound. We suggest that this condition could never obtain on the road, neither will it occur when jacking the car as full lock is never needed when the car is on its jacks. In the case of 39-Ex where it is intended to fit Fraith II type triangle levers, the track is increased .500" a side and therefore the water excluder can be left intact using the roll rod lever as shown on N.Sch.4763, the new lever being unnecessary. We hope that these remarks cover the whole of the situation, and that in view of our remarks concerning the foul with the standard triangles and the original roll rod lever, the Expl. Dept. will consider the necessity of producing the new lever N.Sch.4970. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Att:N.Sch.4970. | ||
