X.3711. ROLLS-ROYCE, LIMITED 15 BROAD STREET NEW YORK TELEPHONE HANOVER 2155 Oct. 8, 1919 Oy17-FS{F. Steele}/10/19 [STAMP: RECEIVED] EFC from Oy:- Copy Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} RE MULTIPLE STORAGE BATTERY 1. Herewith are details of two tests made by the Chevrolet and Cadillac respectively on Multiple Storage Batteries. These we understand are being adopted as standard on the Cadillac, in place of the best quality Exide cell previously fitted. 2. At the suggestion of the Multiple Storage Battery Co., we are having a sample battery sent to you at Derby, which you may wish to test. This battery was seen by Major Searight at his recent visit to the U. S., and we are informed was considered excellent by him. It is possible that if these batteries test out as well as seem possible, Mr. Barrington may instruct us to use them instead of the Exide on cars made in the States, or on imported cars. Mr. Barrington will doubtless wish to get in touch with Major Searight to ascertain what tests he has been able to make on the battery. Vickers, Ltd. we understand are using this battery on aeroplanes. 3. Claims for the battery are that it stands up better to the heavy discharge and charging rates, and that it stands up well under vibration. Oy | ||
