Dear Mr. West, I would like first of all to thank you for the courtesy shown me on Friday, and for the opportunity of seeing what you are doing in the way of manufacturing your electrical equipment. I can assure you that the visit was very interesting indeed. I am enclosing herewith a section of one of the new condensers to which I referred. The section does not show the construction very clearly, but you will see that there is a soldered connection at both ends of the condenser, the connection being made by a flexible lead from one end soldered in to the brass stem, while from the other end a thin metal strip is carried along the inside of the case and soldered in at a point between the case and the lead. The insulation and fixing of the central stem is provided for, as you will notice, by combining the stem and the lid{A. J. Lidsey} of the case in a bakelite moulding, and as in addition the lid{A. J. Lidsey} is soldered on to the case itself, the result is a condenser which is perfectly watertight. The flat bronze spring washer which you see at the bottom of the case is to prevent any possibility of the assembly shifting under vibration. Would you mind returning the section after you have examined it as we are rather short of these. Our sales department is giving you a quotation for these condensers, and we shall be in a position to give you deliveries very shortly. Yours faithfully, G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} A.{Mr Adams} Watson V.P. [Handwritten in left margin:] Feathered carried right up | ||
