Successful temporary modifications to the 'SS' vacuum pump.

Smith}' VACUUM PUMP. Certain temporary modifications were made to the fuel feed vacuum pump upon instructions from WW. and were successful in overcoming the previously experienced troubles. The modifications consisted of adding .200 to the top of the piston, packing up the cyl. cover to give the same compression space and re-cutting the ports as shewn on print V.413. This arrangement is quite satisfactory. We should like the necessary drawings modified to give the essentials obtained by our temporary scheme. Print V.413 appended.
