W.A.Robotham Esq, Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd, Derby. Dear Robotham, Many thanks for your two letters of the 23rd and 26th instant, reference Rmlo/R.{Sir Henry Royce} and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/R.{Sir Henry Royce}, in regard to my suggestion of putting a 4 1/4 litre engine into my present car while I was in America. I note that you do not feel disposed to adopt my suggestion. I am sorry for this, because I do feel that I persevered faithfully with some fairly serious troubles for the first 12,000 to 14,000 miles, which you were most kind and helpful in getting over for me, and after this I have had the most excellent and satisfying service, from a very good car. I have got very fond of the car, and felt that while I was away, I would like to have a new engine, but I do not think it is worth while putting this body on to a new chassis, and I would rather run the car for the rest of the year, and then have a new chassis with one of the very latest light bodies on. Therefore, I will decide to keep the car as it is, and will have it gone over while I am away. I would like the brakes put into proper condition, they have got rather bad lately, and I would also like you to see if it is possible to get rid of the buzz in the gearbox, and I will tell my people to get in touch with you while I am away. Yours sincerely, (Signature) A.H.R.Fedden. | ||
