Bailey - Chief Engineer} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} PN.{Mr Northey} OY. Expl. No. 4214 REF. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG29.11.23. OBJECT OF TEST. Particulars of brakes on HISPANO CAR. TESTER. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham. A.{Mr Adams} C. Lovesey. CONDITIONS. Tests taken on the road. SUMMARY OF TEST. Brakes smooth in action - no jaggers - slight squeaking. Servo Drum Speed. 1 rev. of servo drum to 30 revs. of engine (assuming axle ratio 3.5 to 1.) Overheating. The servo drum shews no signs of overheating even after the brakes have been applied for some little time and the brake drums themselves have attained a fair temperature. Forward braking. From 20 m.p.h. it is possible to pull up in 20 ft. Reverse braking. It is just possible with the maximum foot pressure to bring the car to rest from running backwards at 10 m.p.h. on a 1 in 7.5 gradient by means of the foot brake only.
