AN VERY INTERESTED IN HAVING ONE OF THESE OIL BATH FILTERS AVAILABLE FOR EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMERS. Rolls Royce, Ltd., DERBY. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Dear Sirs, Minor difficulties arose in designing an Air-Maze Oil bath filter for your 25/30 H.P. unit, and I considered it wise to tender the suggested design to Air-Maze Corporation, Cleveland, for their opinion. The size of filter they recommend is 11 1/2" diameter by 9 1/4" deep. If such a filter can be accommodated in your chassis, it is, of course, the one hundred per cent. ideal, but as the space available appears limited, I suggest that a filter of dimensions as shewn on the attached drawing should be suitable. The power drop will, in this instance, be slightly higher than in the case of the larger filter, but taking into consideration the horse-power of the engine, and the fact that the filter element will not become gradually clogged to create air restriction, as in a dry type filter, this minor disadvantage seems reasonable. You will see that the skirt length in the filter is adjustable. This will enable you to find the exact position for the filter element to receive a thorough washing without oil from the filter being drawn through into the engine. Your views in the matter will be much appreciated, - 1 - | ||
