- 2 - Sr2/Crn.27.II.34. The mentality of the Continental owner is, as you know, quite different to the average Britisher, and they are used to handling cars which detonate. When the car does not do so, they seem to be under the impression that there is not sufficient advance to the ignition. Tests carried out yesterday with "GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}" and chassis 21 G IV. These tests again proved my point, i.e. that the old type 20/25 HP, with the same conditions as regards weight, and far less "tune up" conditions, gets away from 21 G IV type of 20/25 HP from 10 m.p.h. on top speed, only to be overtaken again by the newer model at about 20 to 30 m.p.h. When I say 'overtaken' I mean that chassis 21G IV crept up and I then hung on to its rear wheel arch. On a long run, both starting together on top speed and going flat out for approximately 4 kms., it is interesting to note that at the beginning of the 3rd and towards the end of the 4th, my old type chassis picked up over half the distance at which we started, roughly 30 metres away from oneanother. Had we gone on for the other two or three kilometres, personally I feel that I would have drawn level with "GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}". This has a tendency to prove that this car is faster when it gets going, and faster from 10 to 30 miles. I trust that this information will be useful to you. I am always very pleased to do anything I can to help you in your difficult task of "improving the breed". Sr. M- | ||
