Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/S1/L2713. Re Mr Goulding's trip on Chassis 2200. X334 J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 2-7-13. In reply to your memo CJ3/T11613, we give below the report of the driver of the car (Kitching) and also Mr Haldenby's explanation of the affair. We regret the delay in replying to your memo which was immediately passed on to Mr Haldenby, but he explains that the driver (Kitching) has been away from Derby and he was awaiting his return before forwarding a report to you. Kitchings report is as follows :- "The inconvenience which Mr & Mrs Goulding "and party were subject to at Banon was in "no way connected with the handle of tyre "pump, that incident happened the following "day and caused no inconvenience except "borrowing the use of one from a Wolseley car. "The trouble was caused by the puncturing "of a tyre after all our spares also were "punctured about 6 p.m. a mile or more from "Banon and while we were considering what "to do as Sisteron, our next place, was some "way on and roads bad and dangerous, a man "passing in a trap offered to take me to a "place where a repair could be made. This "turned out to be a barber's shop and he "repaired same as well as possible with what "he had at hand, and I walked back to the "car accompanied by a few villagers who "informed Mrs Goulding that there was a very "good Hotel in the village, and as it was "dark then Mr Goulding decided himself to "remain there. I told him I was at his service | ||
