Re Engine Guards.

TBB1/L19412.

Mr Spinney    19.4.12.    Copy of minute 15 of the 114th Meeting of the T.C.

----------

Mr Platford said he had tested that week end, a chassis fitted with the new type of engine guards which are part of the scheme for isolating the floorboards; he reported that they were quite satisfactory as regards ventilation, but he was not satisfied that the guards were strong enough to resisit the vibration and continual bending, he thought perhaps they would fall to pieces. He would like the Committee to inspect these guards in order that they might make any alteration they considered necessary before standardization.
He had not been able to test for their efficiency in keeping out mud and water, owing to the fine weather.

Mr Spinney is of the opinion that the guards will be quite satisfactory as regards keeping out the mud and water.

Mr Nadin suggested that these guards should be made standard immediately.

The Committee agreed to inspect the guards fitted, with a view to standardization.

Mr Platford pointed out that he had experienced some difficulty in connection with dust entering the car?
