1305 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}C/MH.{M. Huckerby} 2nd. November 1938. Metalastik Ltd., Evington Valley Road, LEICESTER. Dear Sirs, Will you please quote your price for making 4 bearings to drawing SCD.954, enclosed. In the event of your agreeing to mould in the 4 round headed bolts, then you will supply the 16 bolts: but should you not want to do this, we could cut holes in the rubber and insert the bolts from the top when we get the bearing. This mounting carries a shear load of 1,100 lbs., or the stress is about 100 lbs/sq.in. we presume that the rubber adhesion to the metal will easily take this load. (This load is max. load reached under heavy braking: the vertical load is practically nothing). We should also like to know how quickly you could supply, after receipt of order. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
