American Katalite Corporation Woolworth Bldg. New York April 21, 1924. Mr. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Olley, Chief Engineer, Rolls-Royce of America, Inc. Springfield, Mass. Dear Mr. Olley: Referring to my previous letters in which I submitted to you evidence bearing on the effect of Katalite on counteracting detonation in high compression engines and referring also to your letter in which you said that you have communicated this information to Mr. Royce, I am sending you enclosed copies of a letter recently received from Mr. A.{Mr Adams} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Baker, Chief Engineer, of the Willys-Overland Company and of my reply to Mr. Baker. The contents of these letters are self-explanatory, and I thought that they might interest you. It is scarcely necessary for me to point out to you that the experiment as made by Mr. Baker was really made under conditions quite unfavorable to Katalite, because increasing the compression ratio by adding metallic plates to the poorly cooled piston must have a tendency to create hot spots and to induce detonation even to a higher degree than if the same compression ratio were obtained by changing the volume of the cylinder head. Of course, I must ask you to consider these letters as a confidential communication and not to have them get beyond your own files and your correspondence with Mr. Royce. Thanking you for your interest, and hoping to hear from you soon again, I remain Yours faithfully, (signed) EDWARD SOKAL | ||
