Dear Sirs,

We should be interested in trying one of the latest type "Mechanics" propeller shaft on one of our Experimental chassis provided it possessed certain properties we wish to obtain. These are :-

(1) Limits of unbalance each end not to exceed 1/2 oz. in.

(2) Unbalance must not vary with speed.

(3) Unbalance must not be affected by the amount of lubricant in the joint.

Perhaps you would let us know whether your joint conforms to these limits and if so at what price you would supply us with a shaft of 47.6 joint centres, to run up to 4500 R.P.M., for a top gear torque of 350 lbs ft., 1st gear torque 1000 lbs. ft., with special ends to suit out gearbox and axle couplings.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
