1202. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} C. Hys-ey. Fn. E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}1/HP.17.12.36. Castings to Hot Pressings. Referring to RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/GH.3/IB.3.12.36, it is necessary to examine each piece carefully before agreeing to use Dixtampo as this material has properties which limit its use very considerably. We give below our recommendations on the items suggested in the above memo:- GB.880 - We agree to this being in Dixtampo provided that it can be done - does not need standardisation test. G.56876 - This piece is used on 25/30 HP. and Bentley and is likely to continue for another 2,000 sets of material; agreed if it will pay to do so on this basis and if it can be done quickly - does not need standardisation test. E.87958 - This piece can be tried experimentally in Dixtampo but requires a standardisation test because it has bearing duties to perform. Recommend investigating cost of dies and if reasonable obtain some pieces for experimental test. This is used on P.III. only. E.87783 - Agreed - does not need standardisation test - used on P.III only. E.87144 - Not recommended to proceed in Dixtampo - we hope to discontinue using this in the near future (P.III radiator steam valve). E.50435 - Used on 25/30 HP. Wraith and P.III - agreed if it can be done - does not need standardisation test. G.81815 - Agreed providing it can be done - P.III only - does not need standardisation test. G.83622/3 - P.III only. We hope to dispense with these pieces with the introduction of the new type propeller shaft. recommend no change. | ||
